On July 31, 2025, within the framework of the Vietnam International Logistics Exhibition 2025 (VILOG 2025) in Ho Chi Minh City, the Economic - Finance Magazine in collaboration with Vinexad organized the Seminar "Financial policy for green logistics development".

Tọa đàm diễn ra trong khuôn khổ chương trình Triển lãm Quốc tế Logistics Việt Nam 2025 (VILOG 2025).
The seminar took place within the framework of the Vietnam International Logistics Exhibition 2025 (VILOG 2025).

In the context of the global economy shifting deeply towards greening, circularity and digitalization, developing logistics in a sustainable and environmentally friendly direction is not only a choice or social responsibility, but is becoming a mandatory requirement for every country and every industry. In particular, green logistics is emerging as an important pillar promoting the green transformation process, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing national competitiveness.

In Vietnam, green logistics is still relatively new, but it has become a development trend. Green logistics is increasingly receiving attention and investment from the Government and businesses, demonstrated through investment in infrastructure. The seaport system is also increasingly improved, focused on investment, innovation, and access to more advanced, modern and environmentally friendly transportation services.

In particular, Tan Cang Cat Lai Port in Ho Chi Minh City, belonging to Tan Cang Saigon Corporation, is the first port in Vietnam to achieve the title of Green Port of the APEC Port Services Network Council. The port is invested in a system of equipment that operates entirely on electricity such as shore cranes and yard cranes, helping to reduce CO2 emissions instead of diesel-powered equipment...

In Vietnam, logistics currently contributes significantly to the economy, with a market size of up to about 40 - 42 billion USD, a growth rate of 14-16%/year, among the highest in Southeast Asia. However, logistics costs are still high, accounting for 16-18% of GDP and the logistics industry is also one of the sectors with significant carbon emissions, especially in road transport.

Therefore, developing green logistics is becoming one of the key contents in the national sustainable development strategy and in the roadmap to implement the commitment to net zero emissions that Vietnam announced at COP26.

Although green transformation and sustainable supply chain development are inevitable trends, Vietnamese enterprises are still facing many barriers: from lack of capital and technology, limited professional capacity, to pressure from the global value chain. In particular, small and medium enterprises are facing more difficulties in accessing green finance...

With a sense of responsibility and constructiveness, the Economic - Financial Magazine organizes the Seminar "Financial policy for green logistics development" with the expectation of becoming a forum connecting policy makers - economic experts - financial institutions - and the logistics business community to analyze the role of financial policy in promoting green logistics development; clarify the difficulties and barriers that businesses are facing in accessing capital, technology and green infrastructure.

At the same time, propose specific, feasible solutions that are suitable for Vietnam's practical conditions, contributing to perfecting financial policies in the coming time.

Participating in the discussion were speakers, delegates and guests from the following agencies: Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade); Customs Department; Regional Customs Branches; Southern Tax Branch; Department of Industry and Trade, Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Research and Development; Vietnam Logistics Service Enterprises Association; business associations and nearly 200 enterprises operating in the fields of: Logistics, seaports, customs clearance agents, warehousing, transportation, express delivery, customs clearance agents, commercial banks and reporters from news agencies, newspapers...
